South Bank Tower, designed by Richard Seifert was originally a thirty-storey tower completed in the early 1970s. Hermes Investment Management and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board purchased the commercial elements of the tower in 2014, which are today undergoing an extensive redevelopment with the new scheme due to complete in late 2016.
tp bennett will take two components of the scheme, the main office and the podium, from shell and core to CAT A. The office space is approximately 60,000 sq ft in the lower levels of the tower and 175,000 sq ft in the podium. The design has made the building as flexible as possible enabling the building to be occupied by one or multiple tenants in any sector. The result will deliver a leading edge contemporary offic edesign that acknowledges the latest workplace trends and will appeal to a wide range of potential occupiers.
tp bennett's in-house planning team have also submitted proposals to enhance the entrances and make them more prominent providing the building with more presence at street level.
The fit-out is on target to achieve a BREEAM 'Excellent' rating.
