1 Embankment Place wins at BCO London and South East Awards 2014
PwC’s 1 Embankment Place has won best Refurbished/Recycled Workplace at the BCO London and South East Awards. The project will now go forward to the National BCO awards on 7 October.
Having made the decision to stay in 1 Embankment Place, PwC’s brief was to transform a dated office building into a 21st century ‘business hotel’ - a flexible, collaborative, sustainable and intelligent workspace .
Great value has been added by opening up the atria – allowing natural light to flood throughout the floors – and by adding in a new accommodation stair and scenic lifts, encouraging interaction between the businesses.
With improved visitor and staff facilities, new meeting rooms, client lounge, restaurant, an enhanced arrival experience, and the highest ever BREEAM rating, PwC has a building to consistently meet their requirements.
The BCO judges said "PwC made a brave decision to retain and refurbish the iconic office building over one of London's major transport hubs. Their ambition is amply rewarded. Entering the base of the busy semi open atrium, there is a real vibrancy as clients and staff mix in a variety of places. PWC analysed the mobility and activities undertaken by their team, and set a brief to provide an 'hoteling' office environment to match. An exemplar sustainable office provides a really active, stimulating environment for staff and clients alike."
